I’m researching for SSDW start up as well as retailing ultra premium food and grooming. Hoping to obtain wisdom regarding customer volume. Similar types of questions have been posted but I’m attempting to be more specific. To Dave Grass’ point in previous posts, geographics need to be considered as buying habits and trends vary by region but your response is still VERY valuable.
My belief, by answering this post, you’re doing a great service to start ups and giving existing businesses an idea of what can be achieved with regard to volume. If you opened a SSDW in the past 3 years or less, I would GREATLY appreciate knowing the following for providing an educated guess to possible sales in my business plan for my store in Arizona:

From opening day:
Quarter 1 – how many washes averaged per day?
Quarter 2 – Same question.
Quarter 3 – Same question.
Quarter 4 – Same question.

If opened for business more than a year – how many washes per year in your second and third year? (No need for break down as I can average the months)

Where (city/state) are you located?

How many tubs do you have?

How many square feet is your shop?

Including your web site address would be great as well.

If you prefer to email me direct, please do so. I greatly appreciate ANY input even above beyond what I’ve requested. Knowledge is power. Thanks and WASH ON!

Hey steve and John,
I need to ask you both a question, What is your advertisement budget for year one? We spent almost $20,000 and we did extremely well. I have read on here of other people putting all the money into the wash and forgetting to advertise so no one knows about the wash. So if you do not have an advertisement budget then my numbers are irrelevant.

Yes, ad budget is very much a factored expense @ $11,200 for year 1 and deemed critical to the success of the business.

Although, my stating $11.2 at this stage is rather foolish on my behalf. Currently using $11.2 for early estimating but looking to strengthen my pro forma income statement through several sources. I can't justify spending $11K in advertising if my revenue is only $40K. Using a sales/ad ratio would be wiser which requires me to first estimate potential sales hence the reason I'm searching for SSDW owners which are willing to share volume information. Hope to receive a response regarding year 1,2,3. Thanks
